DonorSnap vs. Bloomerang
Bloomerang is a great CRM. DonorSnap is too at less than half the price.
Both systems track donors, manage gifts, build reports, and handle acknowledgements at real depth. Bloomerang adds engagement scoring and a more polished interface, and for some organizations that’s worth $125 a month on an annual contract. For many others, it’s a layer they never use. DonorSnap starts at $50 a month, month-to-month, and does the core donor management work just as well. The question isn’t which system is better. It’s whether you’ll use what you’re paying for.
Choose DonorSnap If:
Budget is a constraint and you’d rather put the difference into your mission than into software. You want month-to-month terms with no annual commitment. You want a system that does the core donor management work at full depth. You want event registration and auction tools available natively through EventSnap and AuctionSnap when you need them.
Chose Bloomerang If:
Donor retention is your central problem and you want engagement scoring on every record, surfacing lapse risk automatically. You want the most polished, intuitive interface in the category and you’re willing to pay for it. Live chat support is important to you. The higher price and annual commitment fit comfortably in your budget.
The Honest Breakdown of DonorSnap vs. Bloomerang
Where they’re the same
This is the part most nonprofits get wrong about DonorSnap, the core donor management work is not a compromise.
Both systems offer custom fields, a full report builder, donor segmentation and filtering, gift and pledge tracking, split gifts, recurring donations, acknowledgement letters, online donation forms, native email marketing, duplicate merging, wealth screening, document handling, and unlimited users on every plan. Both integrate with QuickBooks Online and Constant Contact.
Reporting is where DonorSnap is underestimated
The full report builder is included in every DonorSnap plan, not gated behind a tier.
You can query across any combination of fields, build and save custom reports, schedule them to arrive in your inbox automatically, and run the segmentation and retention analysis that serious fundraising depends on. DonorSnap also offers a browse-all-contacts grid view and a single search bar that queries every field in the database.
Many nonprofits look at a $50 system next to a $125 system and assume the price reflects the capability. With DonorSnap, it does not.
What’s included, and what isn’t
Volunteer tracking and membership tracking are in the DonorSnap base plan. Bloomerang sells both as separate paid modules, which raises the effective monthly cost above the sticker price.
DonorSnap also integrates directly with both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. Bloomerang has a direct QuickBooks Online integration, but Desktop runs through manual export and import. For an organization whose bookkeeper lives in QuickBooks Desktop, that difference is felt every month.
Where Bloomerang wins
Engagement scoring. Every Bloomerang donor record carries a score, and the system surfaces who is cooling off before they lapse entirely.
Bloomerang also offers peer-to-peer fundraising, which DonorSnap does not, and live chat support, which DonorSnap does not.
Price and terms
DonorSnap starts at $50 a month, month-to-month, with published tiers. Bloomerang starts at $125 a month, billed annually. Add volunteer and membership modules to Bloomerang and the gap widens.
The bottom line
If donor retention is the problem keeping you up at night, or peer-to-peer is core to how you raise, Bloomerang has capabilities DonorSnap does not and the higher price may be worth every dollar.
For everyone else, the question is simply whether you will use what you are paying for. On the features most organizations actually touch every week, gift entry, reporting, segmentation, acknowledgements, donor records, the two systems are peers.
DonorSnap is the CRM you grow into and never out of, at a price that works from day one.
