Stripe Payment Processing Integration
DonorSnap is integrated with Stripe for payment processing in the Responsive Forms tool. Stripe is our preferred payment processor.
Nonprofit Payment Processing Fee Rates
Visa, MasterCard, & Discover: 2.2% + $.30 transaction fee|
American Express: 3.5% + $.30 transaction fee
ACH: 0.8% capped at $5.00

When using the integration, DonorSnap charges a $10/month Integration fee that will be added to your following monthly bill or invoiced for annual subscriptions.
Setting Up Your Stripe Account
Whether you already have an existing Stripe account or not, you’ll need to initiate the connection from within DonorSnap.
- In DonorSnap, go to Maintenance > Site Setup > Integrations.
- In the Payment Processing tab, choose the sub-tab “Stripe”
- Click the +Add New Stripe Account button
- Follow the steps in Stripe to set up your new account or to log in and select an existing Stripe account
- After completing the Stripe side, you’ll be sent back to DonorSnap.
- Click the edit icon on the left of the new Account ID and give the account a name, typically your organization’s name.
- Click the Validate button to check the status of your Stripe account. If your account is not ready yet, you’ll see a message asking you to wait a few minutes and then try again. If after a few minutes the account is still unable to validate when pressing the button, you may need to click the Finish Setup button and supply Stripe with additional information to complete your application.
- Once your account is validated, you’ll see “Yes” in the Is Valid column and a date in the Validation Date field. Now you are ready to build your online donation forms.
Apply for Nonprofit Rates
Your Stripe account is ready to use right away, but it will take about a week to apply and be granted the nonprofit rates. All payments processed before that time will use the standard Stripe rate, and the nonprofit rates will not be retroactively applied to already made donations. Read more on Stripe.

Include the following information your form submission:
- Account ID — Your Stripe account identifier.
- Registered email address — The email associated with your Stripe account.
- Donation volume confirmation — A statement confirming that over 80% of your payment volume comes from tax-deductible donations.
- Tax registration details — For example, your EIN or IRS confirmation letter for 501(c)(3) status.
- Tax-exempt documentation — Valid tax documentation verifying your nonprofit status.
Wait for Approval
After about a week, you’ll receive word if your request has been approved and now your new rate. You can still process payments at the normal Stripe rate while you wait, but the nonprofit rates will only go into effect once you receive word of the approval.
