The trainer discussed the process of setting up recurring donation forms on websites using DonorSnap and Stripe as the credit card processor. She explained how to build a form, integrate with Stripe, and manage recurring payments. The trainer also highlighted the flexibility of the system, allowing for various frequencies and the option to set an end date for recurring payments. She emphasized that any existing form could be converted into a recurring form by adding the ‘Recurring Fields’ option.
Credit Card Company Setup and Integration
The trainer explained the process of setting up credit card processing and integrating it with DonorSnap. She highlighted the use of Stripe as the payment processor, and how to add a new Stripe account. She also mentioned the possibility of having multiple Stripe accounts for different bank accounts. The trainer then guided through the process of building a form, using a template for a recurring donation form, and emphasized that a Stripe account is needed before being able to build a donation form.
Customizing Forms and Recurring Donations
The trainer discussed the process of customizing a form using available fields. She explained how to add, rename, and rearrange fields, as well as how to make certain fields required or hidden. The trainer also demonstrated how to save changes at regular intervals to avoid losing work due to internet issues. She mentioned the addition of a recurring donation feature to the form.
Customizing Recurring Donation Forms and Embedding
The trainer discussed the customization of a recurring donation form. She explained the default frequency options, including monthly and annual, and the ability to reduce the list of options to suit the organization’s needs. The trainer also mentioned the option to include credit card fees in the donation, which can be covered by the donor. She further discussed the ability to hide certain fields, such as the donation type, and the importance of including a campaign field for donors to choose where their money goes. Lastly, she demonstrated how to embed the form on a website and how to view the form’s current status.
Customizing Donation Form Elements
The trainer discussed the customization options for a donation form. She demonstrated how to change the form’s color, upload an image, and modify the confirmation page and email. The trainer emphasized the importance of personalizing these elements to make the form appear as if it’s coming from the organization, rather than a generic ‘no reply’ email. She also mentioned the ability to blind copy oneself or others for notifications and the option to customize the email content. Lastly, she touched on the customization of the submit button’s color and text.
Linking Recurring Donations and Payment Process
The trainer explained the process of linking recurring donations to individual records on the form builder tab. She detailed how donations made through a form appear as open records on the dashboard, not in the individual’s record, and how to link the payment using the auto-link by email feature or manual search. She emphasized the importance of loading payments through the system rather than manually entering them. The trainer also discussed a system that shows all people who have created recurring donations, including their frequency and amount, and a feature under online forms called ‘Stripe Recurring’ that allows her to modify more information about recurring payments.
Managing Recurring Donations and Payments
The trainer discussed the management of recurring donations and payments through Stripe. She explained how to edit the amount, frequency, and end date of a recurring donation, and how to cancel it entirely. She also mentioned the ability to send recurring emails to donors, but noted that the first email upon filling out the form would always be sent. The trainer clarified that she couldn’t change the credit card expiration date, as this information was not stored in DonorSnap. She suggested contacting Stripe for further information on this. She also encouraged the team to sign up with Stripe if they hadn’t already.
Embedding Donation Forms and Recurring Donations Process
The trainer explained the process of embedding a donation form on a website. She advised that a web designer should create a page with the form embedded in it, and the form should launch when the user clicks on the ‘Donate’ button. She clarified that the form would load the DonorSnap page for payment processing, and the user’s credit card information would be charged through Stripe. The trainer also clarified that the frequency, amount, next payment due date, and end date of recurring donations could be edited, but the credit card details and expiration date could not be altered. She further stated that there was no minimum recurring donation limit on the form, and it was up to the user to choose their donation amount.
Updating DonorSnap Records and Formatting
The trainer discussed the process of updating records in DonorSnap. She emphasized the importance of double-checking the information entered by users before loading it into the system. She explained that any information on the left side of the comparison page, which is what the user has entered, will override the existing information on the right side. The trainer also highlighted the need to correct formatting issues, such as phone numbers and capitalization, before saving the changes. She encouraged the team to reach out to her or the support team if they encountered any issues while working on this process.
